The California Environmental Contaminant Biomonitoring Program (Biomonitoring California), the first legislatively mandated ongoing state biomonitoring program in the United States, is a collaborative effort involving the California Department of Public Health, the Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment, and the Department of Toxic Substances Control.

Biomonitoring California collaborated with the University of California, Irvine (UC Irvine), Center for Occupational and Environmental Health staff to measure selected environmental chemicals in a study of firefighters.
