There are many risk factors for breast cancer. Exposures to certain chemicals have been identified as possible risk factors for breast cancer. Exposure to some of these chemicals may occur during firefighting activities. The Program on Breast Cancer and Environmental Risk Factors at Cornell University has put together a brochure designed to help you understand how you may be exposed to these chemicals in your work, and encourages you to use proper protection to minimize exposures during all phases of firefighting.
